Impatiently patient. Hard to believe September is half over. I miss the two events I always looked forward to after Labor Day: first day of classes and Fashion Week. While being grateful about how the use of Zoom has kept me connected, allowed me to work and before I retired, teach courses, I must confess I’m getting weary of the virtual and craving the real. I’d gotten to a really good place when it came to fashion week. I had a carefully curated list of shows to attend and paced myself so I wasn’t rushing around. I went to shows of designers who meant something to me and whose work I really admire. It seems I finally got it right. I miss seeing fashion people I got to know. While this contraction will mean some needed and sustainable change for the fashion system, we are not yet at the place where we know what it will be. There’s a lot of re-imagining of so many things right now: fashion weeks, education, how we must be with each other and the earth and how and where we must live. So I’m feeling impatiently patient until this all plays out because there is really no other choice. But there are some days like today where I miss being one of a crowd or in a classroom full of students. Rooms and spaces full of noises and smells and bodies. But here we are and I’ve much to be grateful for and this brings me back to the now. Back to being patient. Do you sometimes have moments of being impatiently patient? #transitiontimes #nyfw
