Η σύζυγος του πρίγκιπα Harry, θα είναι η αρχισυντάκτρια μόνο για το τεύχος Σεπτεμβρίου της βρετανικής έκδοσης του περιοδικού, το οποίο θα περιλαμβάνει μια “αυθόρμητη συζήτηση” μεταξύ της ίδιας και της πρώην Πρώτης Κυρίας των ΗΠΑ Michelle Obama.

Η συγκεκριμένη έκδοση του διάσημου περιοδικού μόδας θα τιτλοφορείται “Forces for Change” (Δυνάμεις για Αλλαγή) και θα είναι ένα αφιέρωμα σε 15 γυναίκες “ενωμένες από την κοινή τους τόλμη να ξεπερνούν εμπόδια”, σύμφωνα με ανακοίνωση που δόθηκε στη δημοσιότητα από την βασιλική οικογένεια.

Η Meghan στο τεύχος Σεπτεμβρίου θα ασχοληθεί με γυναίκες που θαυμάζει και βρίσκονται στην πρώτη γραμμή της μόδας, του κινηματογράφου, της τεχνολογίας και της ευεξίας. Ανάμεσα στις γυναίκες αυτές θα είναι και η διεθνούς φήμης πρωτευοντολόγος Dr Jane Goodall, Άλλες γυναίκες που θα περιλαμβάνονται στο αφιέρωμα του βρετανικού Vogue είναι η πρωθυπουργός της Νέας Ζηλανδίας, Jacinda Ardern και οι ηθοποιοί-ακτιβίστριες Jane Fonda και Salma Hayek Pinault καθώς και η νεαρή ακτιβίστρια για το κλίμα Greta Thunberg.

“Οι τελευταίοι αυτοί επτά μήνες είναι μια διαδικασία επιβράβευσης...το να αναλάβω το πιο πολυδιαβασμένο τεύχος της χρονιάς και να το επικεντρώσω στις αξίες, στους στόχους και στους ανθρώπους που επηρεάζουν σήμερα τον κόσμο”, σχολίασε η Meghan Markle ανακοινώνοντας τη νέα της συνεργασία με το περιοδικό μέσα από τον επίσημο λογαριασμό που διατηρεί στο Instagram μαζί με τον πρίγκιπα Harry. 

Η απόφαση της Μέγκαν να συνεργαστεί με τη Vogue δεν άρεσε σε αρκετούς Βρετανούς φανς της βασιλικής οικογένειας καθώς χαρακτήρισαν το περιοδικό “σκουπίδια” και “απαίσιο. Ωστόσο αυτό που προκάλεσε εντύπωση μόλις κυκλοφόρησε το εξώφυλλο είναι το γεγονός ότι δεν βλέπουμε πουθενά τη Meghan. Η Meghan σύμφωνα με πληροφορίες δεν ήθελε να κάνει αισθητή την παρουσία της ενώ σύμφωνα με τον αρχιστυντάκτη του περιοδικού Edward Enninful, η δούκισσα πίστευε πως θα ήταν «αλαζονικό» να βρίσκεται στο εξώφυλλο. «Ο Edward της ζήτησε να βρεθεί στο εξώφυλλο αλλά δεν ήταν κάτι που ήθελε.

Ωστόσο όπως αποκαλύπτει ο διάσημος φωτογράφος Peter Lindbergh, που ανέλαβε να φωτογραφίσει τις 15 γυναίκες η δούκισσα είχε μόνο μια απαίτηση. ''Οι οδηγίες που είχα από την Duchess ήταν σαφής 'θέλω να δω φακίδες'!'' ανέφερε ο ίδιος στο περιοδικό μιλώντας για την τηλεφωνική επικοινωνία που είχε με την Meghan, η οποία ήθελε να τονίσει την αληθινή ομορφιά αυτών των ισχυρών προσωπικοτήτων. 

Το εξώφυλλο είναι χωρισμένο σε 16 κουτάκια. Στα 15 κουτάκια βλέπουμε τις φωτογραφίες των διάσημων ακτιβιστριών ενώ το 16ο είναι κενό ως ένας τρόπος αναφοράς στην κάθε γυναίκα εκεί έξω για να την ενθαρρύνει να φέρει την δική της αλλαγή στον κόσμο.

A sneak peek of the #ForcesForChange video for the September Issue of @BritishVogue. Her Royal Highness, The Duchess of Sussex is the first Guest Editor for British Vogue’s September Issue and for the last seven months has worked to create an issue of inclusivity and inspiration, focusing on what connects us rather than what divides us. Fifteen women were chosen for the cover including New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who generously lent her time to support The Duchess in this important issue. The women first met last autumn during Their Royal Highness’ official tour of New Zealand. Above, PM Ardern says: “One change that I’ve noticed over the course of my career, is just how polarised the world is now. I do think there is a solution to that though, and that’s ultimately us coming back to the humanity that we all share." Thank you PM Ardern for being an amazing force for change.
