We saw soo many whales today off the coast at Byron Bay. I volunteered to do some humpback whale research near the end of my degree. When whales breach out of the water they leave skin on the surface of the ocean. We had to find them with binoculars and then head over to where they were and scoop the skin cells off the water. 🐳 There was also a photographer with us to take photos of the tail fluke. Each whale has an individual print on their tail just like the markings on our fingerprints. 🐳 But the most amazing thing was during our boat trip we saw two huge whales. They popped up out of the water and saw us and headed straight for the boat. They swan underneath and alongside us for ages. I was both mesmerised and terrified at the same time. You really don't realise how big they are until they are underneath your boat. . Tell me have you been whale watching yet? Or had some crazy encounters with animals?? . .
